The Marmore Falls

The Marmore Falls are formed by the Velino river near Terni (about 7 km from the Umbrian capital), almost at the mouth of the Valnerina valley. With a controlled flow, it is the highest artificial waterfall in Europe and one of the highest in the world, with a total drop of 165 metres divided into three jumps. It takes its name from the calcium carbonate salts present in the rocks, which resemble white marble. It is part of the Nera River Park.
