Spoleto, the medieval town

Immortalised by the Festival dei Due Mondi as a world centre of entertainment, Spoleto preserves a vast historical heritage, now accessible thanks to three mechanised routes, an expression of the “Spoleto Città aperta all’uomo” project. In fact, the town is made up of an ancient Umbrian-Roman nucleus on a hill, and medieval districts that extend down into the valley. Spoleto, capital of the Umbrians, was the Roman colony that made Hannibal flee.
